The Partnership is based at the Southdown Methodist Church Centre and exists to serve the local community. We encourage co-operation between community groups and agencies, support families and individuals, particularly those in need and seek to reduce isolation. We promote and support community groups at the Church Centre and in the local area. We organise community celebrations and provide voluntary opportunities for spiritual reflection and expression.

Many people in the area are disadvantaged and there are social problems such as unemployment and isolation. Support is given by our full time Church Worker who organises and chairs an inter agency forum weekly lunchclub and toddler group and other events. Needy families can buy low cost clothing in our New2You shop and around 70 families are helped with hampers at Christmas. Groups such as the Credit Union and Inter Agency have rooms rent free and others eg the Baby Clinic have a reduced rent.

Isolation is reduced through contact with lunchclub or toddlers. Our Church Worker is a trustee of family centre and Time Bank+. Profits from New2You shop are given to local schools and community groups. Needy families are often referred to us as a last resort for financial and other help. Many elderly and isolated folk appreciate visits from the Church worker at home or in hospital. Groups at the church centre value the support given to them. We are a point of contact for the local Food Bank.
