For whatever reason many of the children who pass through our school do not have the opportunity to experience the sheer fun of going off on holiday or even a day trip with friends or family. Our main aim is to give each child in our school a day out in the summer time, and we raise money to fund this. We also fund items for special occasions, like book bags for first day at school, and leavers gifts for when the children finally leave us to go on to higher education.

The children who pass through our school are drawn mainly from the local Sowerby area. Many of them are from families who do not have the luxury of bottomless pockets. They can't afford to spend on holidays and trips off for the family, so by giving a day out to all our children we hope they will benefit from time spent with their friends and the experience of going away for a day.

A day out for the children leaves them with vivid happy memories of where they went and what they did, they can last them a life time. The Discos, and parties we put on make many happy smiling faces. When a child rushes up to you and says, after eating a Pancake at the Pancake Party, "Miss that was ace!". The gasps when they realise there are Crackers on the tables at the Christmas Dinner in the dining hall. Little things, but it makes our efforts worthwhile.
