St Athan, Barry | Education & Training
To continue providing a library for our community which would otherwise have been closed due to the financial climate. We wish to provide education, training and promote the arts, culture, heritage, science and other facilities in the interests of social welfare and recreation purposes for both adults and children in our community and surrounding areas.
Why the community needs usEncouraging the community to come together and enjoy the library facilities and we plan in the near future to introduce clubs for both adults and children ie book club, craft clubs, and history club. We have already organised children's half term craft sessions and provided reading sessions to the local primary school children by our older volunteers. It brings together the older and younger generation for their good.
Our impact on the communityWe are providing facilities that may not be available to some low income families. Children are encourage to attend our book reading sessions which is a stepping stone to on-going education. Library members within the community are pleased that a number of people took on the responsibility of setting up a charity to run the library and organising volunteers to keep it open.
