Our village hall, a former WW1 mess hut, is in desperate need of replacing. We are raising funds to rebuild the hall to enable us to continue to provide community events for all ages. With limited public transportation in our isolated, rural village our aim is to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Stalisfield, by providing a meeting space, lectures, classes and other recreational activities. Our charity also aims to cover the on-going running and maintenance costs.

Why the community needs us

Our recent survey shows that our local community of all ages want a village hall to enable them to take part in annual events, such as the Summer Fete, Christmas Panto, Senior Christmas Tea and for events like Senior Keep Fit Classes, local dances and WI meetings to be held there too. There is an ongoing need to hire the hall out for Parish Council meetings and Home Schooling sessions. The lack of public transport means that these facilities need to be local to ensure everyone can benefit.

Our impact on the community

A village hall and the events ran there, organised by the village hall committee, have enabled the maintainance of a cohesive way of life for the residents of Stalisfield. Grants we receive have enabled our senior members to enjoy an annual Christmas party. For some it is the only time in the year that neighbours have the opportunity to socialise. Education classes for our younger reidents make a very important contribution to their schooling. We make good use of our only communal space.
