STAR believes that providing opportunities for young people leads to social inclusion, improvements in education and a willingness to learn, a reduction in offending behaviour, better employment prospects and can encourage young people to feel included and play a positive part in their communities.

STAR monitors progress of, or benefits to, each young person. Feedback is received from tutors, teachers, mentors and other sponsors. This is especially useful when ongoing grant support is requested for costs of lessons or sport or music club subscriptions. It also helps STAR build up a picture of how its support is helping young people lead better lives.
