As a Community Development Project, we aim to meet the needs of the local community by offering childcare, family support and opportunities for social action, leisure activities and training. We also offer opportunities for family learning. All provision offered to families is supported by childcare. In 2010, St Chad's celebrated 20 years of providing services to the local community.

The Project acts as the eyes and ears of the community.It responds to feelings of isolation and improves life skills, by increasing personal independence, raising levels of confidence and working towards a more healthy and active community. This is done through a robust activity programme: family learning, gardening cooking, holiday activities and a drop in for 8-13 year olds. Outreach work is carried out by the Family Support Team which supports families by providing individual care packages.

St Chad's is in the unique position of being the first port of call for many people. The activities above will enable families to improve their life skills and empower them to take more responsibility for their own lives and make informed choices. Personal independence and confidence is experienced by service users and friendships and family relationships are built up. This has the effect of creating a happier and healthier community.
