SNCC was set up in 1999 to give children in East London the chance to learn and play cricket and, thanks to the hard work of our volunteer coaches and helpers, "Stokey" is now the fastest-growing junior cricket club in London.
Why the community needs usFrom 50 children in 2008, our junior membership rose to 110 in 2011 before reaching 275 in summer 2014! Stokey now fields 17 outdoor teams, from U8s to U21s, including three U11 teams, four U13 sides and two girls teams. Around 225 juniors each week attend outdoor training and matches at our summer home on Hackney Marshes, while throughout the autumn and spring terms approximately 175 juniors each week train indoors at various local schools and leisure centres.
Our impact on the communityThis remarkable growth in numbers has been reflected in success on the field - in summer 2014 our U11s won the Middlesex Cup, our U10s were narrowly defeated in the County Final at Lord's and the East London Borough U10s team (made up of 12 Stokey boys) won the Middlesex Borough Championships. Four of our boys and one girl (our first-ever County girls representative) have been selected for Middlesex winter training squads (including Middlesex Disability Cricket's Bowler of the Year).
