Streetz Ahead inspires young people to express themselves through the power of dance and performance

We are a North London based dance and performing arts charity with 20 years of experience, we offer weekly training and development opportunities in street dance, drama, music, fitness and dance therapy alongside backstage skills to over 450 young people every week.Our passionate teachers have a commitment to encouraging the talents of young people and are dedicated to empowering and equipping them with invaluable skills that only the arts can give.We are unique in that we work towards 2-3 large-scale productions each year giving the participants the best opportunities for building confidence and developing their performance experience.Our charity status means that through funding and sponsorship we are able to offer an enriching experience for those who need them. Valuing the needs of the individual means that we also offer extended classes for those who need more attention.We now offer Dance Giants, a specific dance and mentoring programme for young people at risk of being excluded.

Why the community needs us
We believe that dance is essential to a healthy society, demonstrating the infinite possibilities for human expression and potential while facilitating communication within and across cultures. We fulfil our mission by supporting the potential of young people of diverse abilities and needs to enhance their lives and positively contribute to society. We are committed to serving the under-represented - those who may not have access to the arts.

Our impact on the community
We work in deprived areas of Haringey and Enfield, partnering with 10 schools a year and working with 450 young people each week to develop their skills and passion for street dance while also developing their fitness, teamwork, confidence and self-esteem. We lead the children to take part in in 3 dance productions each year, performing in community theatres and through these performances, the children build resilience and self confidence that is transferred to other aspects of their lives.
