SLT supports socially isolated adults who may have lived experience of mental health conditions. We do this via provision of our arts, nature and wellbeing programmes, out of hours, online and offline, to improve their health and wellbeing. We are Islington based with a pan-London reach.
We aim to ensure that local people, especially those experiencing social isolation or mental distress, have access to the support they need for better health and wellbeing. Through our socially therapeutic activities, we support people living with or recovering from mental illness, who are isolated and living in poverty.
Why the community needs us
We combat social isolation and loneliness by fostering a sense of community through our regular evening and weekend events, delivered both online an offline. Communities benefit through improved social cohesion and better health and wellbeing.
Our impact on the community
Outcomes for our participants are around interaction with others, gaining a more positive outlook, becoming less isolated and having a greater sense of wellbeing. Our events attracted over 500 participants last year. In a 2018 Impact Study by Royal Holloway University, 76% reported greater wellbeing since attending activities, 68% looked forward to enjoying things, 67% felt more cheerful, and 57% felt less socially isolated and had met with another participant they had met at an SLT event.
