SLT is a community organisation based in Islington, north London, was set up in 2004 by local residents in memory of Stuart Low, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and took his own life, aged just 27, when he couldn't find the right help at the right time. SLT fills an enduring service gap, so that local people have rapid access to community-based.
About the video - The ‘Guiding Star’ Christmas single was recorded at Universal Music Studios and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Help our Christmas single become the festive Number one this year! The music video tells a moving story through our lead actor and local poet Bill Dury, who has experienced his own mental health struggles. In the video, he starts in despairing isolation, but finds a place of joy singing ‘Guiding Star’ in the charity’s Choir...
One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives, yet the stigma surrounding it means people feel alone, ashamed and judged. This brings a risk of withdrawal and suicidal ideation; SLT exists to counter this downward spiral.
We achieve this by bringing them together through 200+ free, award-winning, socially therapeutic group activities focusing on art, nature and wellbeing, build our beneficiaries’ (participants’) confidence, skills, connections and sustained resilience.
