Why the community needs usWe work with survivors to enable them to take control of their recovery and in turn to live more productive lives. We also work to raise awareness of gender based violence within the community with the ultimate goal of eliminating sexual violence
Our impact on the communityWomen who access Rape Crisis support services feel more empowered and in control of their lives and experience significant improvements in their health. They are likely to experience fewer flashbacks and panic attacks for example, and to feel less depressed. Professionals who undergo Rape Crisis training on sexual violence and how women cope with and respond to its impacts know more about appropriate responses to survivors and feel more confident to address these issues in their work.
