Since 2014 Support the Boardwalk, a group of volunteers, have co-ordinated efforts to restore, maintain & enhance the Broad Haven boardwalk, slash-pond, its nearby pollinating meadow & picnic area. A key focus is the conservation of its native flora and fauna. Thanks to our efforts the boardwalk is popular and accessible to all; locals, visitors, young, old, wildlife enthusiasts & dog walkers. Village school pupils enjoy a safe route to school & some have become boardwalk Rangers.
Why the community needs usOur diverse group look to organise many fun activities. As well as working parties, much cake has been sold (& enjoyed!), BBQs, pond dipping, bug box building & band nights have all featured, involving many in our community. Villagers, school children & the church, alongside local retailers, small businesses & the youth hostel and supported by the Havens Community Forum, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park & Keep Wales Tidy, we promote the opportunity for ALL to achieve something to be proud of.
Our impact on the communityOur efforts to maintain and improve the boardwalk and slashpond area, ensures its continued accessibility, not only to the Havens community, but also to the many visitors to our wonderful Pembrokeshire seaside village.
