Swindon Shock WBC enables disabled people to play wheelchair basketball, providing equipment, coaching and community to increase activity and confidence.
About Swindon Shock WBC
Swindon Shock Wheelchair Basketball Club gets disabled people active, confident and connected through wheelchair basketball. We welcome players of all ages and abilities, disabled and non-disabled, and provide the sports wheelchairs, coaching and community that make sport possible for people who are too often left on the sidelines.
Why we're needed
Disabled people are far less likely to be physically active than non-disabled people, and the barriers are real: the cost of specialist equipment, a lack of local opportunities, and the worry of not being welcome or not being "sporty enough". Too many never find a sport that works for them.
Wheelchair basketball changes that. It is fast, skilful and genuinely inclusive, with disabled and non-disabled players competing side by side. Being active brings better physical health, but the biggest gains are often in confidence, independence and friendship. Being part of a team means having a place to belong.
How we help
We remove the barriers that stop people getting started. No experience is needed, sports wheelchairs are provided, and our sessions are welcoming to everyone. From a first try at an open session or school festival, players can progress at their own pace, with the chance to compete in national league competition when they are ready.
Why your support matters
A single sports wheelchair can cost thousands of pounds, putting the sport out of reach for many. Your donation helps us buy wheelchairs for new and junior players, keep sessions affordable, and reach more disabled people across Swindon who have not yet found their way into sport.
Every pound helps someone get on court. Thank you for supporting Swindon Shock WBC.
