Tadcrafters volunteers make items, mainly from repurposed materials, which are donated to worthy causes. We support a range of charities and other organisations whilst helping people to learn new craft skills and develop a social network of people in and around Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.
Why the community needs us
We help people to appreciate the importance and benefit of craft activities to help them relax. We help them to develop their skills and provide a support network within the community. The process of making an item by hand can be rewarding especially when it is to be given to make someone else feel better when going through a difficult time.
Our impact on the community
There are many worthy organisations who benefit from the support of Tadcrafters, examples include patient property bags for St. Leonard's Hospice to return patient's belongings to their bereaved relatives; washable feminine hygiene kits tackling period poverty in developing countries; twiddlemuffs for people with dementia; heart shaped cushions, and drain bags, which provide practical support for patients who have had breast surgery, and lots more including lantern-making workshops.
