The AVA PTFA provides an essential top-up to college funds allowing the school to provide students with more opportunities and better facilities. It also allows the college to integrate with the wider community, enabling the use of sports facilities and making cultural events more accessible in particular.

In 2016 the college completed the construction of a new artificial grass football pitch on-site. This was part-funded by the PTFA and is managed by Leisure East Devon. It is a facility for the whole community, including local football clubs as well as the college itself. The PTFA also supports the school's community "Music Hive" which is hoping to expand and improve its facilities to include a recording studio as well as more instruments and specialist teaching.

The PTFA supports many projects with a particular focus on extra-curricular clubs and activities, which give all students, but especially the most disadvantaged, confidence and a positive view of the world as well as instilling the belief that they can make a significant contribution to society.
