About us
We are a village based community café and foodbank in Rhos, Wrexham (North Wales).
We are a registered charity and have recently evolved into a Wellbeing Hub, facilitating groups and activities with love, friendship and care at its core.
Grace Lockhart is the founder of Rhos Community Cafe and Foodbank. We first opened in April 2012, and in September 2021 we formed the Wellbeing Hub alongside this. We are part of the Umbrella charity, Father's Place, but run independently as an organisation.
Grace oversees a group of dedicated volunteers who have helped to reform and serve a new menu in the café, run our foodbank and create a welcoming environment for our communities.
We are also connecting with other organisations and charities to work in partnership to meet the needs of local people.
Our aims:
- to provide a safe place for families and individuals who need it
- to build a healthier and more integrated community
- to equip people with the necessary skills to move forwards to live a more positive and enjoyable life
- we are investing in the future of members of our community through support and meaningful relationships.
How we want to achieve this:
- through social & cultural inclusion
- by improving spiritual healing & wellbeing
- by offering mental health support
- by encouraging personal growth as we offer a judgement free environment to develop confidence and upskill individuals
- by working to reduce poverty & isolation
- through developing a cohesive community
by offering support to refugees and asylum seekers
-by working together with local authorities and organisations to help support our communities in all the ways listed.
A quote from one of our Foodbank users: 'I would like to thank you for all the help you are giving me. I would have gone hungry. The Foodbank has helped me. Thank you so much..' J
