The Joshua Tree charity supports families across the North West living with the life-changing experience of childhood cancer. We offer support to the whole family - patient, parents, siblings, and grandparents with bespoke 1-2-1 support, practical and therapeutic help to ensure that life remains as normal as possible during and after an incredibly traumatic time. We have also recently launched a pilot service for families living in North Wales.
Why the community needs usAt the support centre we can offer 1 to 1 play sessions for children and their siblings affected by cancer, therapeutic support for older children, teenagers and adults, group activities to promote socialising, fun and normality within a safe and friendly environment, alongside others experiencing similar journeys,"Crafternoons" during school holidays, Centre visits - pop in for an informal catch up and a cuppa! We can also offer:-home visits,school visits, tutoring and sibling support.
Our impact on the communitySo far this year we have delivered over 1,000 support sessions ranging from art therapy to counselling. Experiencing childhood cancer can leave many families facing a number of uncertainties and emotions. Returning to 'normal' family life post-treatment can be scary, difficult and overwhelming. The support services offered by The Joshua Tree are designed to empower families to get life back on track after a hugely disruptive and incredibly traumatic episode. Our services are free of charge.
