The Property Angels Foundation C.I.C support families affected by domestic abuse throughout St Neots, Huntingdon, St Ives and the surrounding villages.
Our main aim is to provide immediate, practical assistance to families being rehoused by refuges and local councils after they have escaped domestic abuse. We also raise public awareness and signpost individuals to qualified professionals.
As a CIC (Community Interest Company) everything we do, and any money we raise, is for the benefit of and solely for the communities we serve.
The support we provide is as follows:
Signpost individuals to qualified professionals specialising in domestic abuse, mental health, legal advice or training to get back into work.
Providing 'Back to Life' support to families who have been rehoused after by refuges and local councils after escaping domestic abuse, by sourcing items for the home, providing white goods, flooring and furniture etc when required.
Social activities for emotional well-being and peer support, such as the monthly Angel Walk and Talks, coffee mornings etc.
Raise funds for local domestic abuse refuges to help fund occasional projects.
The Property Angels Foundation purpose is to bring comfort and hope to families fleeing domestic abuse. See what we do here: https://youtu.be/r3ubrkTA4MU
Called, ‘Back to Life Support’, the CIC works with organisations such as the local NHS Social Prescribing Teams, Cambridge/Peterborough Women's Aid, Mid Cambs Refuge, the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Partnership Cambridge and Peterborough, IMPAKT, the local authorities, and other specialist agencies.
Once we receive a referral from the specialist organisations above, we provide immediate assistance at this crucial point in the family’s escape from abuse - their new start, in a safe place. Often the accommodation offered comes with no home comforts, without even the barest of essentials – no fridge, no flooring, no curtains, sometimes even no lightbulbs.
You would think that the challenges facing families would end once they leave their abuser, but unfortunately, they don’t. This is why we want to bring some hope, to help them rebuild their lives by giving them a comfortable and safe place to start from.
Integral to the support we give families affected by domestic abuse, is that they understand their community haven’t forgotten about them, that they aren’t alone, and that people care about them.
