We aim to entertain, inspire, educate and challenge in equal measure and to include everyone with something we offer. Our packed programme includes film, live events, exhibitions, workshops and educational outreach for people of all ages, interests and abilities. We're working with people with many additional needs through drama and dance workshops, a youth theatre for young people from ages 3 to 18 and a social film, tea and cake club for the elderly
Why the community needs usWe receive wonderful feedback from people who experience our programme; everything from carers of those attending a movement workshop telling us 'This is a lifesaver...' to artists saying we're at the heart of the arts in Northern Devon for them.We operate from our central location in Torrington but are taking work across the region with outreach, open-air theatre and arts centre collaborations in many towns and villages including Barnstaple, South Molton and Lynton.
Our impact on the communityOver 70,000 people experience the arts through The Plough Arts Centre every year. We work closely with the community to provide a valuable service. Opportunities include dance and drama groups for adults with disabilities, groups and events targeted at an older audience and four different youth theatre groups. We provide film screenings and live events for schools, have live streamed Albert Hall meetings for the WI, host various community groups and have acted as a donation centre for refugees.
We welcome people in many different roles, from ushering at events to cafe support and admin. All very flexible around the hours you have available.
