This project is a planned response to facilitate the personal, social, and educational development of young people to enable them to gain a voice, influence and place in society thus also benefiting the rural communities the Purple Bus visits. The Purple Bus recognizes that young people in rural areas face an additional set of barriers and are disadvantaged because the effects of rural isolation. By working with communities and their young people we are seeking to overcome those barriers.

The Purple Bus provides youth support to communities that have very little or no facilities for young people. Workers are trained around the delivery of the West Sussex Youth Service curriculum framework which is based around Informing, Inspiring, Resilience and Self-belief.

Young people will gain recorded outcomes when they participate in activities provided. They will also have the opportunity to gain a national recognised accredited outcomes when completing a short course.
