Based in Clumber Park and practicing in Hardwick Village, we are the last remaining brass band in England that is associated with a working deep coal mine.We are aware of the traditions we keep alive, namely the provision of quality musical performances for the local community and providing facilities for local amateur musicians to perform at the highest level. We have also setup a successful youth band. The band has no formal sponorship and relies on concert and CD revenue, donations and grants

Our impact on the community

The band is currently graded Championship level, which is on a level with the best bands in the UK. In 2011 Thoresby qualified for the National Finals demonstrating the successful management of the band in meeting its quality goals. The Thoresby Colliery Youth Band was set up in 2000 and is now a succesful band in its own right, with players promoted to the senior band and achieving university places. The local community has proudly supported the band in these achievements.
