The Tweedsmuir Community Company was set up to promote and support projects within the small Borders community of Tweedsmuir. The main focus for the TCC currently is the Save the Crook Campaign. The TCC have a right to buy on the 400 year old pub which forms the heart of our community. To do this we must raise £160,000 before the end of 2012. This page allows supporters to donate securely online to our campaign.

Why the community needs us

For 400 years the Crook Inn has been at the heart of the Upper Tweed Community. It was a staging post, a haunt of Rabbie Burns, and John Buchan amongst others, as well as host to many important community events. Sadly, in 2006 the Crook was closed and this has had a negative impact on the community. After many years of campaigning the community has secured the right-to-buy the pub back for community use. To secure the Crook for future generations we must raise £160,000 by the end of 2012.

Our impact on the community

With the Crook as a heart of the community once more, we look to provide 18 FTE jobs, a community centre with sports facilities and a range of activities for all ages within our community. We also aim to provide a meeting place in a remote rural community where there are little in the way of other facilities. The re-opening of the Crook would also allow the historic and architectural features of the building to be preserved. The Crook would be a vibrant community hub for another 400 years!
