OUR MISSION: 1) To develop and sustain affordable visual arts and craft studio facilities in Chichester, for the benefit of the local and regional communities. 2) To promote career development opportunities for artists and craftspeople. 3) To promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public, particularly but not exclusively in the understanding, appreciation and involvement in the visual arts and craft in Chichester, West Sussex, and beyond, National and International interest

Artists/craftspeople in Chichester will benefit from opportunity to rent affordable studio space, exhibit and receive career development. The community benefit from opportunities to engage with artists and learn about their practices; demonstrations, classes, talks and other educational activities. Chichester and West Sussex will benefit from a dynamic community of successful professional artists/craftspeople in Chichester, that will attract creative talent and help retain graduates.

In 2007 UAT were successful in ensuring the S106 planning document for the Graylingwell redevelopment included a large studio building for 40 artists, with workshops, education space and gallery; move in around 2017. In 2010 UAT raised £11,500 to open UNITY STUDIOS, where 10-11 artists have studios, exhibited, undertaken talks, and start a mentoring programme. UAT are also behind CH-ART artists club, a networking/training event for local creatives in partnership with Pallant House Gallery.
