UCARE (Urological Cancer Research and Education) funds urology cancer research, research infrastructure, education and raising awareness in the community, and the development of new treatments. Urological cancers represent kidney, bladder, prostrate and testicular forms of there disease. The devastating effect of urological cancer on the general population of the UK has never received the exposure they warrant. There are 54,000 new cases of urological cancer each year.
Why the community needs us20% of all new cancers diagnosed each year are urological cancer, yet awareness of the signs and symptoms remains woefully low. With research, early detection and diagnosis more people could survive the disease. Therefore, the health care needs of the community are at the forefront of the UCARE charitable object. We will share information, encourage changes to life style, give the best up to date information to help improve health in the community to tackle the underlying causes of ill health.
Our impact on the communityWe aim to influence behaviour change within a health promoting environment, to have a visible and measurable impact at individual and community levels - to help with the identification of the early symptoms of urological cancers, encouraging and taking the fear out of seeking early intervention - closing the gap between seeing a GP, diagnosis and treatment - which can saves lives.
Organise a fundraising event or sponsored activity, and raise money to support our projects.
