Unity is our strength

Unity Does MAATer (UDM) organises projects and events that raise the aspirations of young people. We promote positive paradigms of the achievements of community members, through local educational events and workshops. The educational interventions include (but are not limited to) wellbeing, finance and culture.

The UDM organisation has been working in the community since March 2015, previously we were three separate community organisations. We have run a number of events such as debates, health events (which included coordinating consultations with health practitioners nationally and internationally) for both adults and children. Events we ran in 2019 included research and public speaking; preparing children for success; black history events for the young people. Some of our events have been attended by over 100 local people. We decided that we needed more investment to grow and incorporated the organisation in January 2019.

We have been operative as a community group and have been working within the community building relationships with various communities; individuals and establishments. Leeds City Councillors have also contributed MICE money to our events showing their support for the work that we do.

Within the group we have the following skills: - project management; youth worker; teaching assistant; resulting in great communication, organisation, management information, negotiation and progress tracking skills.
