Voices from Care Cymru has been providing a Wales-wide support service to the care experienced community for over 30 years. We are unique in Wales because we are experience-led and run by people who have lived the care system themselves.

Every year we connect with over 300 care experienced young people.  We listen to their concerns. We support them to know their rights and empower them to overcome the stigma of growing up in care. We enable them to access the opportunities they need to develop and thrive.

Who we help
The number of children and young people who experience the care system and corporate parenting at some point in their childhood is growing in Wales and, over the last twenty years, has doubled to over 7000 per year.

These are some of the most vulnerable children in society who are at high risk of experiencing poverty, exploitation and abuse, homelessness and unemployment. We aim to improve the emotional, educational and physical welfare of care experienced people and reduce the inequalities that they face.

We are proud to have actor Michael Sheen as our Patron, he is a passionate activist for social justice and joins our mission of equality for care experienced children.

Campaigning
Campaigning makes change happen.  We are a proudly independent voice for the care community.

A gift of £5 will help us to continue our campaigns and events like #1,000VoicesCymru, #CareDay,  #ProudToBeMe.

Wellbeing/group activities
We give care experienced young people access to support groups that give children safe places to go with others that are in a similar situation, adults they can trust, and provide safe activities that protect them from harm and support to help them recover from trauma.

A gift of £10 could help pay for outdoor equipment for our young people to take part in activity sessions with adults they trust, promoting healthy habits and supporting good mental health

Support groups
We provide access to support groups that give care-experienced children safe places to go with others that are in a similar situation, adults they can trust, and provide safe activities that protect them from harm and support to help them recover from trauma.

A gift of £35 could fund one young person to attend a support group and meet their peers in a space space.

One-to-one support
Many care experienced young people have lacked a consistent, trusted adult to support them as they grow up. Voices from Care Cymru can step in through the delivery of specialist 1-2-1 support, we provide intervention around important issues like emotional and physical wellbeing and healthy relationships

A gift of £55 could help fund the costs of a specialist wellbeing worker to spend an hour with a care experienced young person struggling with low self-esteem and self-harm or the practicalities of life.

Please make a donation today so we can continue to be the voice for the care experienced community in Wales.
