Building a thriving Elmbridge community
Walton Charity is a charitable foundation supporting people across the borough of Elmbridge, Surrey.
Working with our partners and local community we are tackling issues of poverty, health, housing and education in our local area.
We provide grants to tackle poverty, offering affordable housing, and making our land and green spaces available to local people and community groups.
The Walton & Hersham Foodbank is part of the Walton Charity and The Bridge which is our community hub supporting families across Elmbridge who are struggling with the rising cost of living
Why the community needs us
Elmbridge is the 9th most unequal borough in England with worrying levels of child poverty.
Trends over the last few years have left people more exposed. Rising costs combined with in-work poverty and unemployment mean that incomings are not covering outgoings for some, and money is running out before the month is through.
There has been a huge rise in the number of people accessing help via the Walton & Hersham Foodbank and The Bridge
Our impact on the community
During 2023-24, we committed more than £790,000 in grant funding to our key areas (poverty, education, housing, health and isolation) supporting local people and organisations. We continue to work with local partners to tackle poverty and inequality in Elmbridge, with a particular focus on child poverty.
2132 local people used our community green spaces.
35 local organisations benefited from space in Charities House and our community properties.
135 people were housed in our independent living accommodation and social housing properties.
