Watlington Climate Action Group was founded in April 2019 as a Facebook community group and became incorporated as a Community Action Group, part of the CAG Oxfordshire network, the following October.
The group aims to help Watlington address the Climate Emergency, through community initiatives and supporting individual actions.
Our main areas of activity are:
- Raising Awareness - through events, blogs, our newsletter, our website, social media, films and local press.
- Green Plan - a collaborative project working with other local environmental groups, to implement natural climate solutions to sequester carbon and protect and enhance biodiversity.
- Homes & Energy - a series of projects to reduce carbon footprint and move towards green energy
- Plastic Free Watlington - reducing single use plastic in Watlington through the Surfers Against Sewage programme
Our vision is to help Watlington become climate neutral by 2030, in line with the goals of the South Oxfordshire District Council, whose aim is for a ‘carbon neutral district’ by 2030.
