Wealden citizens Advice provides the advice people need for the problems they face.
Wealden Citizens Advice provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to everyone in the Wealden area and aims to improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. Our charity has bureaux in Hailsham, Crowborough and Uckfield and provides information and advice by telephone, face to face and by email..
Why the community needs usOur charity provides a free information and advice service to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. Advice helps to empower people and give them the right tools with which to resolve their particular problems. Our service is quality assured provided by volunteers who are trained in the nationally accredited training scheme. Some people gain employment by volunteering for the bureau others friendship and a worthwhile purpose to help local people who are in a difficult situation.
Our impact on the communityLast year our charity helped 4,426 people with 17,182 issues and secured around £3.3 million in improved financial outcomes for our clients including over £2 million in additional income such as previously unclaimed benefits or tax credits; we also helped over 200 people at risk of homelessness. People are empowered and better able to cope with their particular situation. Sometimes there is no financial outcome but people are able to regain control of their lives creating a real emotional lift.
We are always looking to recruit advisers who can spare at least one day a week. We also have other roles and are looking for help to support our IT systems. For more information please email da@wealdencitizensadvice.org.uk
