To encourage children and their families to join and enjoy the facilities of the club no matter what their ability. The club has close links with the village school and coaches children from the age of 5 to 17 years. We believe it is the oldest village cricket club in Northamptonshire and is a large part of village life and aims to help with fitness and friendship. It has four youth teams in all age groups, under 11, under 13, under 15 and under17. We have a "weenies" group for 5 and 6 years.
Why the community needs usThe community benefits from bringing families together and making new friends and introducing youngsters to sport. The coaching sessions help with discipline, bullying, healthy eating and respect for the countryside and the village.
Our impact on the communityIn 2014 Weldon Cricket Club under 15 team were county champions which shows how the children develop and from this as they get older they will go forward to the senior sides. However it is not all about winning and some parents have congratulated coaches on how their child's school work has improved due to having more confidence. Weldon Cricket Club house is used by the village British Legion group and also for funeral wakes. It is a big part of the community life. Established in 1863.
