We equip young people in Weston, Southampton, to enjoy life in all its fullness. We are coherent: organised around the welfare of the whole young person; Christian: founded on the message and example of Jesus Christ; and community-centred: dedicated to the collective and social good of Weston.
Why the community needs us
We provide a fun & safe place for the young people on the estate to spend their free time. Through our three programmes of work - Fun, Support, and Faith - we offer opportunities and activities to help young people enjoy life, learn new things and contribute to the wider community.
We support students in school through one-to-one mentoring, this can be to support a whole variety of issues such as school attendance, behaviour, or an unstable home life. We provide opportunities for the young people that they may not get to experience otherwise: weekends away, holiday camps and various trips. We have a good relationship with schools on the estate & work closely with them, and aim to impact the lives of local children, young people and their families.
Our impact on the community
Through building up good relationships we have seen many young people come along to our clubs, who when they are old enough, have become sessional workers for us. We have seen a big increase in volunteers amongst the young people too, helping out at clubs for children young than them. This is very empowering for them & gives them a chance to spend their time in a positive way. We have seen a number of students conquer issues of poor school attendance and behaviour through our programmes.
