The purpose of the charity known as Westoning Village Hall (formerly the Spensley Trust) is to provide and maintain a parish room for the physical and mental wellbeing of everyone who lives in the village. The building was originally two school rooms built in 1844. When the school moved to new premises in 1913 it became a social club and was left to the village in 1940 by the local lord of the manor, Howard Spensley. It is now a very popular village hall.
Why the community needs usThe village hall is used by various local organisations such as the local church, Women's Institute, Westoning Players, Parish Council, etc. Activities which take place include coffee mornings, drama group, carpet bowls, youth group, sewing & craft group, older people's group, adult and toddler exercise classes, art classes, young children's music activities, etc. It is also available for private hire for family parties, fundraising events, meetings, etc.
