
The Woodcraft Folk is a children's and youth educational charity working with children in weekly group settings in community venues teaching social education, co-operation, development-education etc. They also play co-operative games and do arts and crafts. The group organises outdoor activities incl. a week long summer camp and hostel weekends. Children are organised into age appropriate groups, Woodchips pre-school, Elfins 6-9 years old, Pioneers 10-12, Venturers 13-16 and DFS 16-20 years.
Why the community needs usYoung people need to have the opportunity to meet together in non formal educational spaces.The Folk provides this as well as organising events outdoors- especially hosteling and camping.
Our impact on the communityThe Woodcraft Folk emphasises the empowering aspects of youth work, helping young people to develop positive self image and to help them develop hard and soft skills such as problem solving, team work, communication, cooking, pitching tents, self sufficiency etc
