Worksop | Community Support & Development
Our aim is to provide emotional and practical support to older people (over 60) living in their own homes, in order to enhance their quality of life and prolong their independent living.
Why the community needs usWe hold a Lunch Club every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Carlton in Lindrick at the Ann Daniels Centre. Every Wednesday in Worksop at Rayton Spur Community Centre. Accessible transport can usually be provided by the scheme if necessary. All meals are freshly cooked on the premises and consist of three courses. We also provide a monthly Tea Dance & Buffet, plus a monthly shopping trip and a volunteers & staff a befriending service for the more isolated who can not get out.
Our impact on the communityAs part of our service to members we publish and send out a monthly newsletter, organise trips as well as social and fund-raising events such as the river Trent cruise which proved to be a success with the members. As quoted by one member "The trip was well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it". Our outcomes include; improvement in mental & physical health, reduction of loneliness & isolation, and enhancement to social life that encourages new friendships and experiences.
