Helping young people learn about work through thousands of conversations with employers

Virtual Career WorkOut is a one hour session in which groups of up to 30 students meet and interview five guests from the world of work about their experiences of work.

Virtual Career WorkOut helps young people work out what different jobs exist and which jobs might suit them; also work out how to speak and listen effectively to adults they don't know. Work guests also benefit by doing something useful for the community and feeling personally valued.

In 2021-22, 7855 students met and interviewed 656 work guests from 269 companies in 342 Virtual Career WorkOut sessions.

Since 2015, 25000 students met and interviewed 3000 work guests from 500 companies.

Volunteers needed

We seek more volunteer work guests to spend 40 minutes in a one-hour Virtual Career WorkOut session simply answering students' questions about their different experiences of work.
