Born in 1995, we are a resident-led charity that has been working to build an inclusive and healthy community in West Silvertown ever since. In fact, we are the only charity serving the whole community in our area. We manage Britannia Village Hall, the only community centre in West Silvertown. This is the 'beating heart' of our community. Regular activities in and around the hall include *Britannia Youth Project which has reached 4,600 young people since it launched in 2007, through a twice-weekly youth club, annual summer scheme and special events *A programme for children and under 5s including our twice weekly parent and toddler groups *A range of fitness and wellbeing activities for adults, from circuit training to Zumba *Regular community events, including breakfast club and community festivals *Adult learning and support, including English classes and councillor surgeries *Meeting space currently used by five Christian and Muslim faith communities.

Why the community needs us
We love our unique and diverse part of London, but it is also an area of inequality and challenge. Our mission is to work together with local people to build community and enrich lives through shared opportunities for participation, inclusion, learning, generosity and good health. Many people in West Silvertown tell us that our activities and services make a real difference to their lives! However, as a charity, we rely on donations and volunteers to help us run our programme of activities.

Our impact on the community
We make a difference by *Diverting young people from crime and antisocial behaviour *Providing opportunities for young people to develop confidence and boost employability *Encouraging local people to adopt healthier lifestyles by getting active *Supporting adults through opportunities to learn new skills *Supporting families through activities that promote the development of children *Bringing our diverse community together, combatting loneliness and encouraging friendships.
