Moorland Road Community Library is a charity which was set up in 2018 in response to the news that Council funding for the library would cease in March 2019. We are a group of local residents who are determined to keep the library open as a volunteer-run facility; we are on track to reopen as a Community Library on 2 July, and have already recruited some of our volunteer librarians. We feel passionate about maintaining access to free books, particularly for the young and old in our community. We want to encourage children and families to visit and feel welcome at the library, regardless of background. Oldfield Park includes a high proportion of university students, who will also benefit. Although, we've been lucky to get grants and private donations to set the ball rolling, we need further funds to keep the library operational, including paying overheads, utilities, stationery and such like.
Why the community needs usLibraries have always been an integral and much-loved part of our lives whether you live in a busy town or a sleepy village and conjure up happy memories for both old and young. We want to keep up this tradition for the residents of Oldfield Park and surrounding areas, so by donating to the MRCL charity fund, we'll be able to keep the library's doors open all year round for all. Please help us by donating, as your contributions will help make sure the library stays at the heart of Oldfield Park
