Working within the local community of York and North Yorkshire, through the umbrella of sport, we work in partnership with York City Knights RLFC, operating independently, to address such topics as social inclusion, health promotion, sports coaching, anti-racism, anti-bullying, player development and raising educational attainment, improving the life chances of over 20,000 people annually. Promoting the York & Proud image, which champions York as a great place to live, work, study and play.
Why the community needs usBeing linked with the only professional Rugby club in the whole of North Yorkshire, we are able to use players and community staff alike, to help influence children and young people in the local community, to better their life chances. Helping to improve personal and social skills by encouraging children to participate in a sport outside of school and to join community clubs. Our programmes are offered to every community throughout York as we believe everyone should have the same opportunities.
Our impact on the communityWith the ambitions to improve the life chances of over 20,000 children and young people annually, the main outcome will come from personal improvement in the participants; in their educational attainment, confidence in their abilities (academically and sporting), how they change their life habits; diet, sleep patterns, exercising to improve their health. Number of people joining community clubs, which bring the local community together and improving their personal and social skills in doing so.
