YMCA Mendip has been operating from Wells since 1892 and we now deliver and support a wide range of services, mostly for young people, across the whole of Mendip and Yeovil. Although part of the wider international YMCA movement, we are a fully autonomous independent local charity working for the people of Mendip and South Somerset, with a main focus on young people and specialising in housing and homelessness issues.
Why the community needs usWe provide accommodation for mainly young people across Mendip and Yeovil, comprised of supported housing and dispersed units. Other services include a Move-On scheme for all ages, Private Rented Sector and Tenancy Accreditation Schemes for ages 18+, Emergency Host Family Accommodation and Resettlement Support. We also deliver a range of youth work provision across Mendip and in Yeovil at our youth clubs and offer information, advice and guidance to young people at our drop-in centre in Frome
Our impact on the communityOur wide range of services helps to support young people through the difficult transition to adulthood and independent living. We help young people to grow in confidence, develop as individuals and work towards realising their full potential as engaged and productive members of their communities.
