Our mission is to “engage”, “encourage”, and “empower” people to become responsible, resilient, and resourceful for a safe and cohesive community.
1) Engage – by including them in the planning of engaging activities for themselves and others 2) Encourage – involvement and participation to develop themselves and the community 3) Empower – to take action to bring about positive changes in themselves and in the community
Yuvanis has three broad functions:
1) helping people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals 2) advancing and promoting education 3) providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving the conditions of life of those people
We currently deliver the following community projects, and have ambitions to deliver even more in the future:
Mums & Tots – A mothers’ peer-support group to help mothers suffering from social isolation, and children to increase their social skills
Ladies’ fitness classes – Weekly classes to help BAME women to remain active and physically fit
Boxercise Classes – Weekly classes to improve physical and mental health within young people
Weekly indoor football - to provide a platform for young people from different areas and background to come together and learn to play, work, and have fun together through healthy competition
Regular steering activities – for local people to share ideas, solutions to problems, and get involved in the planning and organising of community activities, and volunteering through them
Summer holiday activities – we have been a reputable provider of the DfE’s Holiday Activities and Food programme within two different sites of Oldham since 2021
How your donations will help us: All our activities are provided to the community for free or for a very minimal cost. To be able to continue with the much needed community activities, we rely on our volunteers, small grants, sponsorships and your donations.
Even a donation of £2 per month will go a very long way in sustaining our activities for the long term.
