Set up and registered as a local charity in 1991 with the aim of providing social welfare, a community centre, a day care facility for the elderly & disabled, Dementia and Parkinson support, Stroke support club, and to advance education for the benefit of the local community. Thus preserving community values and providing for people with varying needs a place to go where they can find care & relaxation.
Why the community needs us
Our Day Centre provides social integration and respite care for the elderly & those families who look after relatives at home. Our Stroke Club allows survivors of strokes the opportunity to meet with others, share experiences and gain support from those with similar needs. Our minibus shopping trips allow those in our community with mobility difficulties the advantage to remain independent. Our Coffee Shop provides a friendly and welcoming social atmosphere for all. Minibus also allows people from outlying rural areas to visit the centre, reducing isolation within the community
Our impact on the community
The work of The Village Centre relies in the main on the support of the local community through volunteering opportunities. To this end we have in excess of 120 volunteers registered & who actively work to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment. We are a valuable local resource providing support and friendship to all, thus enhancing community values.
