CLP is a much-loved local charity celebrating our 20th anniversary. We support families and adults to achieve their potential by engaging them in innovative community projects that enable them to overcome barriers to learning; gain new skills and grow in confidence. This empowers them to lead more fulfilling lives, and make a positive difference to their communities.

Why the community needs us
CLP benefits some of the most deprived communities in Hertfordshire, including parts of South Oxhey, Borehamwood and Watford. We work hand-in-hand with our service users to provide both family and adult community learning, helping to break trans-generational cycles of low aspirations and unrealised potential, and to build happy, purposeful communities with active citizens who contribute to their wellbeing. Although most of our activities are heavily-subsidised with grant funding, we know that many local people have taken a financial hit since the pandemic, and are finding it harder than ever to make ends meet.  Our fundraising is now going to focus on reducing or waiving the amount they have to pay so that they can are able to access our uplifting courses.

Our impact on the community
Each year, we work with hundreds of adults and families, enabling them to learn new skills; broaden their horizons and access opportunities to progress on to further learning, volunteering and work. We have a focus on arts and crafts for wellbeing as almost half of our beneficiaries have depression or anxiety. Removing the stigma attached to mental health means we've been able to support people with arts & crafts projects, helping many to feel much better in themselves.
