Funders wanted: Local Solutions launches new Community Empowerment Fund in Flintshire – seeking local funders to support grassroots change

Local Solutions is proud to announce plans to launch a Community Empowerment Fund in Flintshire, following the success of its fund across the Liverpool City Region. The fund provides small grants to grassroots groups and individuals, empowering them to deliver projects that tackle local challenges, reduce isolation and improve community wellbeing.

Since its launch in March 2024, the Community Empowerment Fund has already:

  • Awarded over £50,000 in grants
  • Supported more than 50 grassroots community projects
  • Attracted additional strategic investment to extend its reach

These projects range from supporting mental health groups and sports clubs to
creative workshops and community gardens – all designed and led by local people who know best what their community needs.

Now, Local Solutions is bringing this model to Flintshire. With £5,000 already
secured, the charity is seeking to raise a further £5,000 to launch the fund. Once
established, Local Solutions will grow the fund by showcasing its impact and
encouraging wider investment.

Funders and supporters will have the opportunity to:

  • Join the funding panel and help decide which projects receive grants
  • Visit local projects to see first-hand the difference their support makes
  • Or simply contribute, knowing Local Solutions will manage all administration, distribution and impact reporting.

Tom Harrison, Chief Executive of Local Solutions, said: “The Community Empowerment Fund is all about backing the power of people. In Merseyside, we’ve already seen how relatively small grants can have a huge ripple effect — building confidence, tackling loneliness, and creating opportunities. We’re
excited to bring this model to Flintshire, and we’re inviting local funders and
philanthropists to be part of this journey with us.”
