CounsellingXtra is the brand name of the Nottingham Women's Counselling Service which was set up over twelve years ago to satisfy the need of women accessing the Nottingham Women's Centre with issues including domestic abuse and childhood issues. To provide a counselling service of excellence to meet the needs of people not able to access emotional and psychological support elswhere. Short waiting lists help to reduce the escalation of distress symptoms and unhealthy coping strategies.

NWCS is addressing the emotional and psycholgical needs of those people who are at risk of being isolated and marginalised by their poor mental health and fragile coping straegies. NWCS is able to respond quickly to distress and anxiety without the need for lengthy protocol. Subject to funding, NWCS, strives to provide an affordable counselling provision accessible to all.

Counselling Extra is an important resource for people facing difficulties in their lives and offers a safe confidential space for people to experience unconditional acceptance and empathic understanding that enables them to understand their problems and empowers them to make positive changes in their lives.
