Its our job to help voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals by finding and securing funding, delivering projects, holding training and advice sessions, providing up to date information and organising regular events where local groups can discuss the issues that are important to them. We use feedback from local community organisations to make sure that the voice and work of the voluntary and community sector is heard and respected at district, regional and national level.

Why the community needs us

We keep local voluntary groups and other organisations up to date with local, regional and national information through regular email bulletins and the Community Action in Craven newsletter and facebook site which we jointly produce with Craven Volunteer Centre. We deliver projects such as Carefree, Daybreak, Active Communities, All Together Now, ITs for Me and CANNY. We advise local groups on funding and fundraising, writing constitutions, business planning and running their charities.

Our impact on the community

In the last 12 months we have:- Provided regular relief care to 57 local residents. Held the annual Strawberry Tea. Delivered IT training sessions in Sutton in Craven, Glusburn, Embsay, Skipton, Farnhill and Bentham. Operated the Hearing Aid Battery Exchange Service. Provided advice and development support to over 30 community groups. Organised meetings of Craven Voluntary Sector Forum, Craven Older Peoples Reference Group, Craven Cancer Support Group and Craven Equalities & Engagement Group.
