Has someone died? Talking to someone neutral, but experienced in the problems a bereavement can leave you with, can help. Norwich Cruse recruits and trains volunteers to support bereaved people whatever their age. We run a Help and Information line and can arrange one-to-one sessions with one of our bereavement support workers. These can be held in our dedicated counselling rooms at our premises or other venues in Norfolk. We also make home visits.

Why the community needs us

Lives can be devastated by the grief and turmoil a death can cause. It can destroy a family. Cruse volunteers work one-to-one with people, young and old, aiming to enable them to face the future and rebuild their lives. They may be having great difficulty coping with family or work responsibilities. We help give them strategies to cope whilst allowing them to express and understand their grief. Last year 1183 one to one sessions were given by our volunteers. 623 new Helpline enquiries.

Our impact on the community

Cruse helps people find their way forward: "I felt pole-axed...I was helped to face and talk through my anxieties and cope with daily life and find my inner strength: gradually I felt more in control and now I feel positive, full of energy and looking forward to the future. "My counsellor was lovely, very professional yet very human.Excellent listener with empathy and care.He remained calm and steady even when I was not."
