Hello! We are going to be riding 200 miles from London to the wonderful city of Amsterdam to raise as much money as we can for James' newly formed charity, The Bristol Inclusive Thrill Seekers (BITS). It has been set up with a primary purpose of enabling youngsters with disabilities to take part in adventure sports, and we are looking for sponsorship so that we can become inclusive to those with hearing impairments.
Our newly assembled team of incapable cyclists will be named "The Merricks" or "Team BITS" and we will be documenting the journey along the way with a video to be aired following the trip. You can follow the action live by following #club.bits on Instagram.
Dan, Sue and Dave Murphy will be setting off from Bristol on Tuesday 16th of April before meeting the rest of the Merricks in London ready to leave on Thursday for a 90 mile day cycle to Mordor aka Harwich. It will be a race against the clocks as we journey through Middle Earth to make our ferry.
From there we push on through Holland until we reach our destination, Amsterdam, on the Saturday.
The team will consist of Sam "Bazz" Lapham, Simon "Chip" Shergold, Nick Lambert, Dan Murphy, Oliver Bevan, Sue Murphy, Dave Murphy, Holly Hunter, Alex Gaulton, Alex Price, James Rudge and his everlasting Apollo bike.
The money we raise will do a great deal for a newly formed charity that James has set up with Tom Stabbins and Jess Carter. Along with James, volunteer Dan Murphy will also play a key part in the trip.
Bristol Inclusive Thrill Seekers are a volunteer led charity that provide young people with various disabilities, learning difficulties and adverse backgrounds with an opportunity to take part in adventure sports and have 1 to 1 coaching with our team of volunteers.
Any money we raise for this charity cycle will help us achieve our vision in making adventure sports an inclusive platform for all to take part in.
