We are a day service for adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues and the deaf community. We provide training and education in woodwork and crafts. We offer a safe and happy environment, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect to encourage all service users to reach their full potential. We open our doors to the local community offering fully funded or heavily subsidised courses in order to ensure we are fully inclusive in an area of social and financial deprivation. We consult with our community to ensure these course are of interest and as a result are always fully subscribed and place a great emphasis on learning social skills and involvement within our local community to increase self-esteem and self worth of all those who use our community building.
Why the community needs us
We serve the local community by providing fully funded courses in many topics as well as offering a special kind of day service for adults who often find integration and social inclusion difficult. We build confidence and promote independence, enabling all using our community building to lead happy, healthy lives.
Our impact on the community
We have strong link with the community working collaboratively with local businesses not limited to the disabilities sector. Working with the Town Council planting and maintaining the nearby flowers bed, in partnership with an allotment group with mutual exchange of working premises, using local facilities such as the library, leisure centre, boxing academy, shops and cafes to practice money skills as well as selling our beautiful handmade wooden goods at our on site shop and quarterly open days. We are very fortunate to have strong community ties with the people of Ferryhill having been based here for over 30 years and always try to 'giveback' locally to ensure they know how grateful we remain for all their support.
