The Church was formed in 1902 and has become very aware of the needs of the community and in 2006 The Welcome Centre was built through the help of many of our own folk and generous grants. It offers a superb range of facilities for community as well as Church use, with various halls, a new shower and toilet block etc. It is now moving into helping the homeless through the new "Enfold Project" and soon will also give Budgeting Advice and Debt Counselling through Community Money Advice.

Why the community needs us

The Enfold Project is supplying a breakfast and showering facilities for the homeless, and there are a number of support groups present who will provide a Nurse to give medical advice, Volunteering and Job Search facilities together with Housing and Benefits advice. Other supporting help will be included in time. In the future, we will be linking with Community Money Advice so that we can initially offer budgeting advice, followed by Debt Counselling.

Our impact on the community

We are working with the Primary Care Trust with the intention of improving health and life expectancy (life expectancy in Clacton is 17 years LESS than in other parts of the County), and to encourage and enable our clients to gradually return to "normal" society. We are also involved with our own young people and provide facilities that are widely used by groups within our community, ranging from baby Clinics to Derby & Joan club, badminton, dance classes, various ACE and NHS and other groups.
