Family Support were established in 1982 initially as a Home Befriending/ Carer sitting service. We are now involved in all aspects of care and have 2 Day Health Care Centres in Clacton & Jaywick plus Little Clacton Lunch Club on Thursdays and afternoon teas within our Clacton Centre. Our aim is to improve the lives of those elderly, less privileged and socially isolated within the community.
Why the community needs usThe Tendring district has areas within it that are the most deprived in the country. With more people finding themselves in fuel poverty and the rising costs of heating and food seemingly racing ahead of other costs we as a charity offer subsidised places within both our day centres to alleviate the pressures faced. By providing social stimulation, a warm friendly environment and a home cooked hot meal each day we are able to monitor the welfare of our users and signpost if nesessary.
Our impact on the communityMany of our users and their carers report that once they have been with us for a short period they "become alive again", they come out of their shells and they make new friendships. As a result of this they become less excluded and more confident themselves, knowing that they have other people to meet and talk to also removes some of the burden from their carers.
