FAR Skate Foundation is a charitable organisation passionate about empowering young people. Within the Charity umbrella is FAR Academy and the FAR Skate Shop.
FAR Academy is a specialist Post-16 college for young people who struggle with their social, emotional and mental health. It provides practical learning in a holistic and nurturing environment. We make subjects more relatable and relevant, helping young people to move forward with education and future employment.
We are committed to providing an engaging, respectful and rewarding learning environment. We will continue our unique approach to education to expand and in turn be able to support many more vulnerable young people.
FAR Skate is a non-profit skateboard shop and community hub, with an emphasis for outreach projects and engagement, supporting the educational services of the Academy.
Why the community needs us
The FAR Skate Shop is an inclusive space where the community can come together and share the passion and inspiration of skateboarding. FAR Skate has a mini ramp on site for skate lessons and community events. Being a Charity all sales, both online and in the shop, plus all donations and events support the essential educational work of the FAR Academy.
Our impact on the community
Our most positive success and impact has to be our students. Everyone is welcome at FAR Skate, every week we have new young people who want to join. The FAR Skate Foundation provides a supportive safe space where young people can feel valued and inspired to thrive, it was created with a passion for learning and a driving ambition for every learner, sharing the philosophy that disadvantage should never be a barrier to achievement.
